Matthew Clark sees increasing sales of English products

Leading on-trade supplier Matthew Clark has announced soaring sales of  English products including beers, wines and spirits over the last 12 months. This follows recent reports of a substantial increase in new winery and brewery registrations in the UK, highlighting increased consumer demand for products with local provenance.

Matthew Clark’s English wines experienced a 53% uplift. Beers and spirits from the UK have also experienced growth in the last 12 months, with sales up by 13% year-on-year.

Commercial Director, Ian Smith from Matthew Clark commented, “we see locally produced beers, wines, and spirits as a key trend to watch. For several years, locally-sourced food has been firmly in the spotlight, and we are seeing this trend growing in drinks as well. Consumers, particularly when visiting higher-end establishments, are increasingly demanding drinks with local heritage and provenance and Matthew Clark has responded to this by expanding our range of home grown beers, wines and spirits to satisfy this demand.”
