About our Cask Beer Uncovered Course

Cask Beer has becoming an increasingly important category for pubs, clubs and restaurants in the UK and yet there are still many misconceptions about what it is, who drinks it, how it should be kept and how to serve it. With over a hundred thousand employees working in bars in the UK, we need to ensure they have an understanding of this fresh natural product and why it is so important to their business.

Cask Beer Uncovered is a free e-learning programme designed as an easy informative guide to cask beer for both bar staff and anyone who loves beer. The content is delivered by brewers, publicans, bar staff and beer lovers, and is intended to help bar staff understand why cask beer is so unique and important to British pubs using fresh, natural ingredients.

Course Content

There are five short films to view, each covering a different aspect of cask beer. The films are interesting, informative and introduce some new ideas about cask beer. The films cover the following topics

  • The ingredients which go into beer, how they impact on flavour and how beer is brewed in the brewhouse
  • Explaining how cask beer is conditioned in the pub cellar
  • Choosing the right range of cask beers, and the importance of throughputs and quality
  • How to serve cask beer perfectly
  • Hints, tip and advice on how to promote cask beer sales and how to match beers with food

Each of the films will be followed by a set of multiple choice questions to test the user’s understanding of the topic. There will be the opportunity to watch the film again if the user is unsure of any of the answers.

If 75% of the questions are answered correctly there will be the option to print off a personalised Cask Beer Uncovered certificate.
