London Beer Week 2017

Now in its third year, there are more ways than ever to get involved in London Beer Week, which hits the capital from 13 – 19 March 2017. From pop-ups and parties, to pairing dinners and beer tours, here are just a few of the week’s best events to further your pursuit of the perfect pint. Tickets for these events and many more are now available to purchase from DrinkUp.London

POP-UPS THE BEER EDIT | 16 – 18 MARCH

Following the popularity of the London Beer Week hub over the last two years, and the success of The Cocktail Village during London Cocktail Week, this year the DrinkUp.London team is launching The Beer Edit, an immersive beer market at the Oval Space in Bethnal Green. The Beer Edit will feature brews from some of the biggest names in beer, including Sharp’s Brewery who are back this year with their infamous Beer Confessional booth, where a full and frank confession might just earn you a beer.

Sharp’s are also bringing some new experiences, including Lost & Found, a micro restaurant in a hidden corner of The Oval Space in which guests will be taken on a quirky, gastronomic journey through beer & food matching with Sharp’s Beer Sommelier – these activities can’t be pre-booked so get in quick!

Also, headlining the festival this year is Guinness Open Gate Brewery, the home of Hop House 13, who will have their latest beers on offer all of which are trialled and tested by the brewers over at St. James’ Gate and many of which are not yet available in Britain. Join us to try the most experimental beers coming from the makers of everyone’s favourite Black Stuff. With a myriad of other brands being showcased at The Beer Edit, plus boilermakers, food and awesome music, there really is something for everyone. Entry to The Beer Edit starts from just £10 per session including a complimentary beer on arrival courtesy of Sharp’s Brewery.

PAIRINGS OUTLAW’S AT THE CAPITAL | 14 MARCH Michelin-starred Outlaw’s at The Capital has teamed up with Sharp’s Brewery to offer an exclusive dinner in the heart of Knightsbridge on 14 March as part of London Beer Week. Head Chef, Tom Brown, and Sharp’s Brewery’s own Beer Sommelier, Ed Hughes, have created a special menu for beer novices and connoisseurs alike, offering guests the unique chance to experience beer with Michelin-starred seafood. The evening will include a welcome drink and canapés followed by a five course menu with paired beers, including the UK’s number one cask and bottled ale, Doom Bar. Tickets are £60 per person and must be booked in advance.

TOURS WALKING TOURS To celebrate the launch of Courage SE1, an aptly named craft collaboration between one of London’s oldest beers, Courage, and the Southwark Brewing Co, London Beer Week proudly presents the Courage SE1 Walking Tours. Experience real microbrewery first-hand, see where the Courage SE1 Project limited edition cask ales are created and sample brand new beers before anyone else. Tickets are £15 per person and include two free limited edition Courage SE1 Project cask ales. Please note that each tour is approximately 1 hour long and can only accommodate a maximum of 15 people.

RICKSHAW BEER TOURS | 14 – 15 MARCH A new addition to this year’s London Beer Week, the Rickshaw Beer Tours offer a fun way to discover London’s amazing homegrown brewing talent as you sip on brews and immerse yourself in the fantastic spaces where our capital’s beer is made. Tickets are just £10 and will include entry to three different Breweries or tap rooms with a complimentary beer at each, plus a stainless steel hipflask and free rickshaw transportation between the locations courtesy of Jameson Caskmates, which is aged in craft stout seasoned oak barrels — meaning even your whiskey will be on point! Each of the beer meccas featured will keep their doors open for London Beer Week guests from 7-10pm, so feel free to enjoy the tour at your own pace and linger a little longer at your favourite for another pint or two. The Rickshaw Beer Tours take place in Hackney on Tuesday and Bermondsey on Wednesday, so pick the neighbourhood you most want to explore or better yet, grab a ticket to both! Beer lovers across the capital can find out more about the festival and purchase tickets for all events online at Drinkup.london.
