Hogs Back Brewery is our featured brewery of the month for November, and we’d like to tell you more about this very active and successful company and how you can get to know them better both in person and virtually.
The brewery, based in the village of Tongham in the heart of the old Surrey hop-growing region, has been producing fine beer since 1992. Still family owned, its most well-known beer is TEA, an award-winning best bitter.
Hogs Back is also noteworthy for planting its own hop garden in 2014 and every year hosts a hop harvest party, enjoyed by all ages. You can also visit the brewery on a brewery tour to find out how the beers are made with the added bonus of sampling some at the end of the tour and a souvenir glass to take away. Vouchers for tours are also available as gifts. Other events include comedy nights, quiz nights at the Tap, Christmas carols and music nights. You can find out more by clicking here and see for yourself how the brewery plays an important role in the community.
Local beer lovers can sign up the the Tongham TEA Club and gain discounts on beer, events and become eligible for special offers such as members only tasting events.
The Tap Room is having a refurbishment and will be able to offer a greater food selection, a new bar serving freshly-brewed cask beer and a heated marquee, there will be a host of events in November and December for visitors to enjoy.
If you like to volunteer, there are opportunities to work in the hop garden this month helping with hop ‘dressing’ where all the bines are cut down to the ground ensuring the hop crown is no longer exposed in order to lie dormant throughout the Winter months.
Cheers to Hogs Back, our brewery of the month.
