BII survey reveals fragility of the pub sector

The BII has released the results of their 3rd survey of members since the closure of pubs in March of this year.

The results show that whilst 89% of members are now open in some form or another, their businesses are incredibly fragile, with 60% making no profit currently, even with staff on furlough and other financial support packages in place. Only 22% of businesses are trading at 75% or over of their usual turnover.

The BII has consistently called for the support that will be vital for pubs to survive and play their part in the recovery of our economy, and will continue to take the collective voice of their members to Government to provide an authentic licensee perspective.

CEO, Steven Alton commented: “The results of this, our most recent survey, clearly demonstrate the ongoing requirement for additional support for our Great British pubs, to ensure that they can remain at the heart of their communities, providing not only local employment and tax revenue, but also friendship, support and immeasurable social value to their customers.”
