Brewery of the Month, Adnams of Southwold, is well known for its green credentials and has been mindful of reducing its impact on the environment for many years. As they say: “The only impact we want to have is on your tastebuds. We want to make a positive difference and do the right thing.”
Adnams uses 100% certified renewable electricity and continues to search out innovative ways of protecting our natural resources.
Their sustainable distribution centre harvests and reuses rainwater, saving over one million litres each year, while the closed-loop water recovery system in the brewery and distillery reduces their use too.
Adnams regards their waste as a potential resource, diverting it from landfill for animal feed or for bio digestion. They are also removing 18 tonnes of plastic from their beer cases each year.
The brewery also believes that it is important to support their local community and works with local groups. They run beach cleans three times a year and their Annual 10k run raises funds
for local charities, including the Adnams Community Trust.
Adnams has won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development three times. This is awarded to businesses whose products and services benefit the environment, society and the economy and it marks Adnams out as one of the leading businesses for sustainable practice in the UK.
