How do we collect data?

  • Sign up via the CaskFinder App
    • By signing up you implicitly agree to be contacted about the ale trail prizes
    • Explicit consent is also requested to allow marketing emails to be sent by Cask Marque. You must opt in to this otherwise we will only contact you about the app

Controller’s Identity
Cask Marque is a non profit making organisation with the aim of improving beer quality in the UK. Your data will not be shared with any third parties. You can find out more about us at www.cask-marque.co.uk/about

Purposes of the Processing

In order to use some of the functions of our CaskFinder App we need you to create an account. This allows you to login, save favourites, record scans as part of the ale trails. These are then backed up in the cloud allowing you to recover them if you change phones. Your name may also appear on our Hall of Fame Leaderboard if you participate in the World’s Biggest Ale Trail.

Personal data collected is kept to a minimum of:

  • Name – so we can politely address you
  • Email address – this allows us to log you into the app
  • Password – if you are using the app this makes sure your account is protected
  • Postcode – your postcode allows us to know roughly where you live and also tailor any ale trail related offers to your local area
  • 18 or over – the content of our emails will relate either directly or indirectly to alcohol and as such no under 18s can subscribe to our mailing list or use our app

Collectively this information allows us to uniquely identify you on the CaskFinder app and communicate to you about prizes you may win and resolve any problems with your account. We will not have access to your password although we will be able to reset it. This information will be stored on the servers of the company which has built the app for us www.inapub.co.uk.

If you choose to participate in our ale trails by scanning Cask Marque certificates in pubs, then we will store records of which pubs you have visited, their postcode and the date/time you visited. This is for the purpose of calculating when you are due prizes. We may share information with pub and brand owners such as how many people visit pubs, but we will never share your personal data with them.

Separately when signing up, we will ask if you would like to receive marketing emails explaining about what Cask Marque is doing. Your data is never shared with any third parties.

Right to withdraw consent/Opting out From App Related and General Marketing Emails

Whether you signed up via the app or the website all our marketing emails will be controlled from our mailchimp.com account. The quickest and easiest way is to click on the unsubscribe link which appears on every bulk email. This will take you straight to our mailchimp.com record for you and allow you to be permanently removed. Mailchimp does not allow us to email you once you have withdrawn your consent.

You can also opt out of receiving emails from us at any time by emailing [email protected] or calling 01206 752212. We will endeavour to remove you from our mailing list within 24 hours.

Right to withdraw consent/Opting out From ale trail prize related emails

If you do not wish to be contacted about prizes you have won on the app then we suggest you do not participate in the ale trail features of the app as these are set up purely to reward participants for scanning certificates. We will then not contact you.
