Enterprise works with Annabel Smith to maximise cask beer sales

Beer sommelier Annabel Smith is to provide expert advice to Enterprise Inns’ publicans as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing support and training across all key elements of running a pub.

As part of her work with the industry-wide campaign There’s a Beer for That, Annabel will provide Enterprise publicans with regular advice on how to maximise beer sales including food matching suggestions in a new monthly feature in deals&ideas, the company’s magazine distributed to all publicans every month.

She said: “I’m delighted to be working with Enterprise Inns on this exciting partnership. The company has around 5,000 pubs across its estate and to be able to reach them and help inspire them to think differently about the opportunities that beer can present is such a wonderful opportunity.

“This is one of the most exciting, diverse and sociable industries to be in. So many people are falling in love with beer all over again, or discovering it for the first time, so we want to make sure Enterprise publicans know more, or at least as much as the customers they’re serving.”

As well as contributing a monthly page in deals&ideas focusing on all aspects of working with beer, Annabel will invite Enterprise publicans to e-mail her with any questions relating to beer and she’ll pick the most interesting one to answer in the magazine each month.

The partnership with a specialist beer sommelier further underlines Enterprise’s commitment to the cask ale sector. Across the estate Enterprise offers a range of more than 1,300 products which alongside established national brands includes a rotating selection of seasonal ales from the “On the Dray” offering which enables publicans to run guest ale programmes themed around special events or the time of the year. Through its partnership with SIBA Enterprise is also able to offer a growing number of publicans access to smaller regional and local ales.

Enterprise sales and marketing director James Armitage said: “We’re very proud of this new partnership which we are sure will be of great value to our publicans. We’re always looking at ways to provide our publicans and their staff with useful information to help them build their businesses, and as quality beer is such an important element of running a pub, we wanted to offer something in addition to our popular beer training courses.

Annabel will be a guest speaker at all enterpriselive trade shows during February and March where she will be on hand to offer advice and talk to publicans. She has also contributed her first article in the bumper show edition of deals&ideas which is now available to all Enterprise publicans.
